  Pink Passport

by Tracy Gilchrist

It’s Academy Awards month and Hollywood’s chock-full of happenings, but every day’s a Vanity Fair-style afterparty for Los Angeles-area lesbians. From Palm Springs to Long Beach and West Hollywood, there’s plenty of glitz and glamour to go around.

Tickled Pink

It’s heating up in Palm Springs with Pink Girls Night Out at Hunters Video Bar. Offering up a little something for everyone’s enjoyment, Pink boasts games, including pool and darts, dancing and go-go dancers—all in a roomy venue with a dance floor, bar and patio. What more could a girl want? February kicks off the monthly party, so you’ll be seeing more Pink on the horizon. A virtual oasis for party girls in Palm Springs, Pink hits Hunters the last Saturday of every month from 6– 10 p.m., Hunters, 302 E. Arenas Rd., Palm Springs. (760) 323-0700

Under Your Spell

Theater, magic and a lesbian storyline take on a new form in the West Coast premiere of Orange Lemon Egg Canary: A Trick in Four Acts. Playwright Rinne Groff and director Talya Klein peel away the layers of love and sex in this story. When Trilby seduces renowned magician, Great, into revealing his secrets, she taps into a moody world rich with sexual intrigue. The critcally acclaimed play—part dark comedy, part ghost story—is complete with floating objects, disappearing coins and sexual games. $25. Feb. 28–April 5. East Theatre at the Complex, 6468 Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood. www.plays411.com/orange

Fan-Tasty Island

Get a flavor of the premier WeHo lesbian scene with Tasty, and enjoy a night of “delicious cuisine, delectable cocktails and de-groovy ambiance” at Murano Restaurant and Lounge. Girl Bar creators Robin Gans and Sandy Sachs bring along Chef Kristi Ritchey to tantalize the taste buds with Italian/French cuisine. At Tasty, sit back, relax and drink in the sights and sounds of the monthly event. Check out “Tasty” from 6–10 p.m., with cocktails until midnight. Feb. 27. All Nite (Don’t Stop)

Janet Jackson—Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty—may not have flashed millions at this year’s Super Bowl, but Long Beach ladies can check out her new stuff at Executive Suite, on March 1, for a Janet Jackson CD release party. Expect plenty of giveaways and opportunities to groove to Jackson’s newest jams from her latest disc, Discipline. Executive Suite boasts three DJs spinning dance music guaranteed to get the entire place up and dancing. Executive Suites, 3428 E. P.C.H., Long Beach. www.executivesuitelb.com
