Ba-Racked with Guilt?
Dear Editor,
Apparently your mag is endorsing Barack Obama out of “guilt,” on
the perception that blacks have not had the same opportunities
as whites [11.4, Perspectives: “Breaking Our ‘Racial
Stalemate’”]. If that is the case, how is it
that he is a Harvard graduate and a multi-millionaire?
He does not support gay marriage. He does not equate the
civil rights movement of blacks with Stonewall and the gay
civil rights movement!
You really need to give Hillary Clinton equal space in
your next issue! She is now and always has been a friend
of the gay world.
Bill Clinton appointed openly gay men and women to high
government positions, including a openly gay ambassador!
Hillary will be President!

Mini Size Me 2!
Dear Editor,
I read your article in the [11.3] issue titled, “Mini
Size Me,” and I was so thrilled to find someone I could
finally relate to. I’m 25 years old and 6 feet tall.
In 2003, I was at my highest weight of 260 pounds. I promised
myself that by my 25th birthday I would have lost and kept
off at least 100 pounds through healthy eating and regular
exercise. Well, I accomplished my goal and now weigh in at
160 pounds, and I’ve managed to keep it off. As great
as I feel, I still bare the scars of my former fatty self.
I have extra skin in the abdominal area and no matter how
hard or how much I work out, I know it will always be there
as well as those annoying stretch marks. I’m still
embarrassed to take off my shirt and join friends in a swimming
pool. After reading your article, I feel intrigued to research
the liposculpture procedure and see if it’s right for
me.

All Mixed Up
Dear Editor,
It was interesting to read about the bad reactions people
have after popping Viagras when drinking or partying [issue
11.3, “Sex, Drugs and Academia”]. I’ve
been doing this for a few years now—taking a Viagra
to hook up—and have never thought it dangerous, but
the essay definitely made me think. It’s pretty scary
the things we do to our bodies, mixing pharmaceuticals,
uppers, downers, all at once—especially considering
the death of Heath Ledger. It’s not that uncommon
for me or my friends to down a couple of Xanaxes, Lexapros
or Ambiens to come down fast after being up for awhile.
Thanks for the thought-provoking article.
