In
our reporting of Thebody.com's local HIV
Leadership Award Winners (volume 8, issue 6), we skipped
the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center's Joni Lavick, who was honored
with an Outstanding Case Manager award. Lavick has been working
with people living with AIDS since 1988, and works as director
of mental health services for The Center. "Today, I help
people cope with living with HIV," she says. "Treatment
has become complex, diagnostic procedures amazingly sensitive,
and helping clients find the right questions to ask is more
problematic than the old dilemma of unanswerable questions!"
she says.
