Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain
and troubled celeb Courtney Love, told Teen Vogue she wants
to be her own person. "I don't want to be
titled as Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain's daughter.
I want to be thought of as Frances Cobain," said
the 13-year-old. The 7th grader also admits that she prefers
it when her mom dresses more as a "classy starlet,
and I don't really like it when she doesn't
brush her hair."...The monumental Live 8 concert
is coming out in an equally impressive four-disc DVD set
on Nov. 7. The collection features performances from U2,
Coldplay, REM, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, Elton
John, and Keane. Disc 4 contains a backstage documentary
and the Live 8 reunion rehearsal of Pink Floyd, plus films
by The Who and Travis ... All L.A. mash-up and bootleg
fans will be happy to know that Bootie L.A. returns to
The Echo this month on Friday, Sept. 30. Go to www.BootieLA.com for more info ... Gay community fave Dolly Parton
is releasing a new album featuring covers of her favorite
socially conscious songs from the last 30 years. Those
Were The Days, in stores on Oct. 11, features Dolly's
versions of "Imagine," "Both Sides
Now," "Blowin' In The Wind," and "Where
Have All The Flowers Gone" (featuring Norah Jones),
and more ... Katrina, from Ô80s one hit wonders
Katrina and the Waves, has a new solo album out. It's called
Turn The Tide. Yes, for real -- we didn't make
that up ... New Order played the UK's T In
The Park festival this summer. Singer Bernard Sumner decided
to relieve himself in the backstage porta-potty before
going on stage. He emerged conscious that he left a hideous
stench, and tried to escape unseen. Unfortunately, he bumped
straight into Godfather of Soul James Brown, who was headed
for the same toilet. Sumner ran off giggling, hearing a
muffled cry of "Good GOD!" ... And finally,
much respect to rapper Kanye West, who drew controversy
during the first benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina
victims. West seems to be the only famous person to have
the balls and conviction to say what so many people are
thinking: That "President" Bush "doesn't
care about black people" -- and how the media
portrays African Americans. "If you see a black
family, they say they're looting. See a white family,
it says they're looking for food." And how
much do we wish that insensitive bitch Barbara "Marie
Antoinette" Bush had to sleep on a cot with 10,000
of her newest "friends?"
