Joy Division begat New Order after the death of singer Ian
Curtis, but New Order are now revisiting Joy Division. NME
reports that the band has been tapped to contribute songs
to the upcoming film, Control, which is a biopic based on
Curtis' short life. New Order has worked in Joy Division
songs during their tour this past year, and they might try
playing a full Joy Division set at some point ... The
Coachella Music Festival now comes to celluloid as documentary
film will hit theaters Jan. 24. It feature performances from
Arcade Fire, Beck, Bjork, Bright Eyes, Chemical Brothers,
Fischerspooner, Flaming Lips, Iggy & The Stooges, Morrissey,
Oasis, Pixies, Prodigy, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers,
White Stripes, and many more. The 2006 Coachella event is
slated for April 29-30 at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio,
but no acts have been confirmed as of yet ... Fiona
Apple and Richard Ashcroft will join Coldplay on tour starting
in January, and they'll hit L.A.'s Forum and Arrowhead Pond
on Feb. 4 and 6, respectively. ... Before she died,
did Princess Diana do the dirty deed with George Michael?
No, but the gay pop star claims she tried. The singer hinted
his relationship with the beautiful royal was never the same
since he turned her down. Michael, who was left devastated
when the princess was killed in a car crash, revealed: "There
were certain things that happened that made it clear she
was very attracted to me. It's that non-threatening attraction
thing that draws women to gay men." ... James
Brown apparently has an interesting -- if not creepy -- request
on his tour rider: "Two girls under the age of 21 who
are willing to spend the night with the Godfather of Soul." ...
Whitney Houston and hubby Bobby Brown were named the Tackiest
Couple of 2005 by Star magazine, which conducted a poll of
more than 35,000 readers. They placed the ghetto couple at
the top mainly because of antics on their train wreck of
a reality show -- especially the "constipation"
episode.
