IN's guide to ringing in the new year.
If you're looking for an unforgettable way to welcome in
2006, this year's New Year's weekend offers up plenty of
options. Luckily for partygoers this year, New Year's Eve
falls on a Saturday, which gives everyone ample opportunity
to enjoy the pre-parties, after-parties and "recovery" parties
on this three-day weekend.
This year, Jeffrey Sanker and John Wojas' Resolution Events
are teaming up to present two exhilarating events for New
Year's weekend in Los Angeles. For those who want to celebrate
the end of 2005 without actually venturing out on New Year's
Eve, The Night Before New Year's dance on Dec. 30 is the
perfect fit. This twelve-hour dance marathon taking place
downtown at the Mayan starts at 9 p.m. and will feature the
sounds of Miami's DJ Abel, returning to L.A. after a successful
Memorial Day weekend party at the Mayan. Wojas is enthusiastic
about this night. "The Mayan is an amazing venue and the
fact that everyone has made a point of driving downtown makes
a big difference in the vibe of the party. So much of partying
in West Hollywood is going to the next place, but with this
event, you're here."
The following night, on Jan. 1, from 3-10 a.m., Jeffrey
Sanker and Resolution in association with Rohan Bissett present
New Year's: After Hours. Just steps away from the Hollywood
Palladium at the legendary Henry Fonda Theater, revelers
can liven up at the first dance of the New Year with L.A.
favorite DJ Paulo, whose tribal injected house will get the
New Year off to the right start. People can also enjoy music
by DJ De León on the scenic rooftop terrace. That
same weekend, Masterbeat and Atlantis are helping to usher
out 2005 with some events that are sure to draw the masses.
On Friday night, John Brady Presents is excited to team
with Masterbeat and Atlantis to present the Last Dance. International
Remixer and Producer Offer Nissim will make his west coast
debut with the legendary DJ Peter Rauhofer. Offer and Peter
first worked together for NYC Pride this past summer and
have shared incredible success with their remixes of major
artists. In addition to boasting excellent music, this event
will also be taking place at the newly revamped Circus Disco
in Hollywood. Circus has recently undergone a million dollar
renovation with all new rooms, VIP areas and balconies to
literally become the largest club and entertainment complex
in the world.
On New Year's Eve, Atlantis and Masterbeat are making the
Hollywood Palladium the party headquarters for the New Year.
The event, which starts at 8 p.m. and goes until 4 a.m.,
includes a concert by recording artist Deborah Cox followed
by a set by international superstar DJ Manny Lehman that
will have everyone dancing their way into 2006. Deborah Cox
begins at 9 p.m., and Manny Lehman takes over at 10:30 p.m.
Partiers who still want to dance some more after the New
Year's bash are in luck with Rise: The Afterhours, which
will take place at the Hollywood Arena, located in Hollywood
at Santa Monica Blvd. just minutes from the main New Year's
Eve event. One of California's most popular DJs, Phil B.
will man the turntables at one of the weekend's most popular
events, which is scheduled to go until noon on New Year's
Day.
Join old friends and the new ones you've made to recover
at The Closing Party, with L.A.'s own favorite DJ Brett Henrichsen
in a rare hometown appearance. John Brady in association
with Masterbeat and Atlantis join to present the official
closing party of New Year's Los Angeles 2006 at Club Avalon
from 8 p.m.-5 a.m.
With all these options, the only potential downside to
going out this New Year's weekend is raising the bar too
high for the rest of the parties in 2006.
