Into The Groove

Studly rocker Henry Rollins -- did you know his real name is Henry Garfield? -- is heading back to the IFC channel, re-naming his Henry's Film Corner to the more entertainment-centric The Henry Rollins Show. The series will showcase Rollins and his traditional outspoken diatribe and film-talk, but also lets him explore his love of music. Upcoming guests include Sleater-Kinney, Oliver Stone, Ozzy Osbourne, Chuck D., Werner Herzog, Jurassic 5, John Doe, and The Pixies' Frank Black.

Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham sure loves being photographed in her designer leather gear on the ski slopes these days. But the odd thing is that after all the posing ends and the paparazzi split, she just quits the slopes, and never actually skis.

Sunset Strip hard-rockers Buckcherry are back in a big way, spurred on by the success of their smoking; new single "Crazy Bitch." Singer Josh Todd says the song was inspired by that well-known, lazy-eyed celebutante Paris Hilton. Todd says the idea for the track came about after a viewing of her infamous sex tape. Buckcherry's 15 hits stores April 11.

During a public Q&A session at the recent South By Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas, Morrissey revealed that his former band, The Smiths, recently rejected a $5 million offer to reunite at this month's Coachella Music Festival. Seems Coachella organizers said please, please, please, but failed to get what they want. At the conference, Morrissey quipped, "Money doesn't come into it. Being in The Smiths was a fantastic journey. And then it ended. I didn't feel we should have ended, but Johnny Marr wanted to end, and that was that." In other Morrissey news, he's decided against touring Canada as a boycott against the annual seal hunt. He says he realizes that such a boycott likely won't bring the Canadian economy to its knees, but it's his own small protest against the government. Morrissey's fab new disc, Ringleader Of The Tormentors, is in stores now.

Last issue we revealed that Courtney Love is selling her share of the Nirvana catalog, and now there's a potential big-name rocker who might make the purchase: None other than U2's Bono. Stay tuned.

And finally, I urge everyone out there to go out and support the Dixie Chicks when they drop their new CD. The Rick Rubin-produced new disc, Take The Long Way, hits retail on May 23, and features the no apologies, strident first single, "Not Ready To Make Nice" -- a proud and clear statement about what happened after all the far-right wing nuts attacked the group for being "ashamed" to be from the same state as Bush. Seriously -- is anyone from Texas actually proud to say that these days?
