Modern rock faves The Smiths and Kate Bush are
the subject of new DVD releases. Bush's 90-minute DVD arrives
June 6 and The Smiths' documentary drops June 27, and both
feature rare and unreleased live clips, music videos, and
other cool bonuses.
There's no reason for No Doubt fans to worry anymore after
the big time solo success of Gwen Stefani. According to the
group's Web-site, the band reconvened to start writing music
for their next record, and their long awaited Live In Tragic
Kingdom DVD arrives June 13. It includes an Anaheim concert
performance, home movies, three live songs from Germany,
a photo gallery, and an alternate video for "Don't Speak."
Depeche Mode and their loyal following will be the subject
of a new documentary with its filmmakers tracing the band's
history through the use of fans and those close to the group.
They're looking for story submissions, so anyone with anecdotes,
photographs, personal artwork, scrapbooks, writing, diaries,
film or video footage from the band is asked to contact info@brownowlfilms.com.
Siouxsie & The Banshees' Steve Severin has been busy,
readying the material for expanded edition Siouxsie CD's
this summer, including The Scream, Join Hands, Kaleidoscope,
and Juju. Severin's also been overseeing the reissue of The
Glove's lone release, Blue Sunshine (which featured him and
The Cure's Robert Smith, though the vocalist was not so much
highlighted on the disc). The bonus material features rough
mixes plus new versions with Smith on vocals. Severin also
spoke with Smith about possibly recording a new record together.
Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, along with
their daughter Coco, will appear on the season finale of
The WB's Gilmore Girls. The episode, airing May 9, finds
the family performing an acoustic version of the new song, "What
A Waste."
'80s synthmeister Thomas Dolby is reportedly ready to take
legal action against fledgling rapper Kevin Federline, after
catching wind of K-Fed's new "America's Most Hated" track.
Fed uses a snippet of "She Blinded Me With Science," which
he lifted from Mobb Deep's "Got It Twisted" (they'd
already licensed the sample). Dolby says he was fine with
licensing to Mobb Deep, but he never had an arrangement with
Federline. Meanwhile, enforcers from a child's social service
agency paid Britney Spears and Kevvy-Kev a visit last week,
to see how son Sean suffered a minor fracture to his skull!
Did he really just simply "fall off the high-chair" while
in the care of a nanny? Stay tuned.
Echo & The Bunnymen singer Ian McCulloch is heading
to court. NME.com reports that McCulloch allegedly kicked
open a bathroom-stall door, striking one fan on the head
and repeatedly pushing another fan. He was charged with two
counts of assault and one count of breach of the peace after
allegedly swearing and making threats toward the two fans.
The trial is scheduled for Sept. 6. See what happens when
there's no toilet paper in your stall?
