  Into the Groove

By Paul V.

It was an eventful weekend for Axl Rose and Guns n' Roses. After their shows at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom, they performed at a birthday party for actress Rosario Dawson. During the soiree, fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger repeatedly slapped and punched Axl when Rose moved his girlfriend's drink. At least he didn't quip, “Who's the beard?” Axl later dedicated the song “You're Crazy” to “my good friend Tommy Hilfiger.” In other GNR news, Rose confirmed their new CD will indeed be out this fall and the band will headline the L.A. “Inland Invasion” concert on Sept. 23.

In some “so much for pretending to be a lesbian” news, Julia Volkova from TaTu says she's getting married to a former Russian boy band star by the name of Vladik Topalov ... Ozzfest organizers will crown a “Miss Ozzfest” this summer. Contestants will be judged on their tattoos, piercings, and of course, inner heavy metal beauty. The top three contestants get free tickets to the show in their city, and the big winner gets round-trip airfare and accommodations for the final show on Aug. 13, where she'll be crowned in a special ceremony. Visit www.ozzfest.com for details.

Babyshambles vocalist Pete Doherty continues to be a completely drug-addled mess. The rocker surprised MTV News Europe during a backstage interview when he squirted a syringe of his own blood, hitting the camera, exclaiming, “That was a wicked shot. That's going to make a cracking link, that is.” Band mate Jim McConnell apologized for Doherty's actions and stormed off. Meanwhile, Babyshambles has been axed by their record label, Rough Trade, following the stunt.

Aerosmith will certainly have a very different sound come time for their new album, as they're teaming up with legendary U2 producer Steve Lillywhite. They hit the studio this month to start work... Boy George has been ordered to work for five days in an HIV hospice, after an NYC court prosecuted him for wasting police time. He was slapped with the community service order after falsely reporting a burglary at his New York apartment last year, and was also charged with drugs offences after police discovered cocaine at his apartment.

On the front cover of June's GQ magazine, look for a nude Christina Aguilera lying on a white sheet. The singer spent an hour perfecting her pose, which was inspired by Marilyn Monroe. Meanwhile, Aguilera is apparently locked in a war of words with fellow diva Mariah Carey. Christina told GQ: "One time, we were at a party and I think she got really drunk, and she said really derogatory things to me. But it was during her breakdown, so she might have been very medicated." Mariah, of course, fired back: "It's sad, yet predictable, that she would use my name at this time to reinvent past incidents for her promotional gain. It is in my heart to forgive and I will keep her in my prayers." Does this catfight have claws? Stay tuned...
